About us

1. Introduction: CGTMSE was set up by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India and Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) in the year 2000. It is a joint initiative to trigger the delivery of institutional credit to micro and small enterprises (MSEs).

2. Core Objective: The main objective is to provide credit guarantee to banks and financial institutions, allowing them to offer collateral-free (security-free) and third-party guarantee-free loans to first-generation entrepreneurs and existing small businesses.

3. Key Functions:

* Risk Mitigation: It absorbs a major portion of the risk (75% to 85% or more in special categories like women and SC/ST) if a borrower fails to repay the loan, minimizing the financial loss for lenders.

* Facilitating Growth: It ensures that lack of collateral security does not prevent viable business ideas from securing funds.

* Wide Network: It operates through a vast network of Member Lending Institutions (MLIs), which includes public and private sector banks, regional rural banks, and NBFCs.

4. Operations: CGTMSE runs on a completely digital and automated B2B e-business platform to ensure transparency and quick delivery of credit guarantees across the nation.
